Dan, Photography and the UK’s fag problem

Just a couple of links for the morning, the first being an article on DansData, perhaps my favorite website on the ‘net. Here’s the article, it’s not as in-depth as some photography tutorial/explaination pages, but it’s humourous and down to earth enough for pretty much everyone.

The second thing that poked me in the eye this morning was something on the BBC. I don’t smoke, nor do I drink or do anything vice-y on a regular basis, or any basis for that matter, so why do I care? Much as I’d like to see smoking in public banned outright across the nation, (Lets face is, if I decided to piss on you in public and make you stink, you’d complain. So why are people allowed to stand next to you and smoke, and make you stink? Of course, if you LIKE being pissed on do it in your own time, where the only person getting pissed on is you. Point made? I’ll move on…) I really don’t think it’s going to happen. Why not? Well lets take a look-see… Ecstacy and cannabis are supposed to be illegal and are not available in high street stores, yet millions and millions of people guzzle that stuff every week. Some success by the government law enforcement systems on that issue. So they’d like to try and ban something that a) people have grown up and lived with all their lives and 2) is widely available to the public in every country in the world. Fat chance. Oh, I forgot one thing, c) that is generates over 9 billion pounds for the UK government anually. Banning smoking would be like banning road tax. Yeah right.

Yeah ban smoking, its a filthy habbit ( 13 weeks, 5 days, 13 hours and some minutes since I had one btw 😉

Thing is where does it end ? Booze kills ( and not just the boozers ) so should that be banned as well ?

Could be a long list …
